Overview
Health and social care is a dynamic and relevant subject that helps pupils develop intellectually, socially, and morally, while gaining a strong understanding of the care sector and its impact on individuals and communities.
Through the curriculum, pupils develop empathy, compassion, and a clear ethical viewpoint. They are encouraged to challenge stereotypes and discrimination, and to understand the importance of equality, diversity, and care values in professional settings.
Pupils gain a broad range of employability and life skills, including communication, resilience, commitment, and problem solving. They also build a secure knowledge of health and social care services and career pathways, helping them understand the wide range of opportunities available within the sector, both locally and nationally.
Raising aspirations is a key focus of the subject. Pupils benefit from meaningful links with universities and the local health and social care sector, supporting progression to further study, training, or employment.
Care values sit at the heart of the curriculum, enabling pupils to become well-rounded, confident individuals who are prepared to make a positive contribution to society.
The health and social care curriculum strongly aligns with the ethos of King Ecgbert School. It is broad, balanced, and relevant, meeting the needs of pupils while reflecting the expectations of employers and the modern workplace.
