Overview
L@KES (Learning at King Ecgbert School) is taught for one hour per week to students in Years 7–11. It combines citizenship, personal, social, health and economic education (RSHE), and religious education, providing a safe space to explore challenging questions. Lessons encourage students to ask: What do I think? Why do I think that? What do others think? How can our thoughts affect behaviour?
Communication is central to L@KES. Students develop oral and written literacy, listening and responding skills, and the ability to form and discuss their own viewpoints.
L@KES equips students with the knowledge, skills and attributes needed to thrive as individuals, family members, and members of society. It supports them in making responsible decisions, succeeding in work and life, and developing respect for the perspectives and values of others.
