Overview
Mathematics at King Ecgbert School follows a carefully sequenced curriculum, building on the work completed in primary school. Our teachers foster an environment where pupils enjoy mathematics and develop as successful, inquisitive learners.
All pupils, regardless of background, can succeed in mathematics at King Ecgbert School. Support is available for those with gaps in their knowledge through to pupils aiming to study mathematics at Oxbridge in Year 13. The department ensures all learners are equipped for further education and a wide range of career paths.
The curriculum aims not only to prepare pupils for external examinations but also to teach broader skills such as problem-solving and algebraic proficiency, which are essential for higher study in mathematics, science, and engineering.
All pupils have the right to study Mathematics until the age of 18. Post-16 options include Core Mathematics and A Level Mathematics. Enrichment opportunities allow pupils to develop their skills nationally, with links to the local Maths Hub, Sheffield University, the UKMT, and the AMSP.
