Students apply to King Ecgbert School Sixth Form via Sheffield Progress, supported by their current school. External applicants are very welcome.

The deadline for applications is 31 January.

Students applying from outside Sheffield, including Derbyshire, must apply via Sheffield Progress and complete the self registration process before submitting an application. Guidance on how to do this is available from the sixth form team.

Application process

  • Submit an application through Sheffield Progress by 31 January

  • Check entry requirements carefully for each subject

  • Select one subject per option block

  • Choose a suitable combination of A levels and or BTEC courses

  • Attend any required guidance meetings or interviews

Supporting documents, including option blocks, entry requirements and the sixth form application guidance booklet, are available to help students make informed choices.

Admissions and offers

All offers to King Ecgbert School Sixth Form are provisional, subject to students meeting the overall sixth form entry requirements and the specific entry requirements for each chosen subject.

GCSE results day and enrolment

On GCSE results day, students will confirm their place based on final grades achieved.

If a student’s grades differ from their provisional offer, the sixth form team will provide guidance and support to explore alternative courses. This may include changes to subject choices where entry requirements are met and places are available, or support to identify appropriate alternative provision.

Students are encouraged to contact the school as soon as possible on results day to discuss their options.

Appeals

Students from King Ecgbert School may choose to appeal GCSE grades through the school’s appeals process. Appeals must be authorised by the student and submitted from the student’s own email address. Families cannot submit appeals on a student’s behalf.

Students should be aware that appeals can result in grades going down, remaining the same or increasing, and may take time to process.

External applicants must submit any appeals through their original school.

King Ecgbert School Sixth Form is unable to hold places pending the outcome of appeals. Places can only be offered based on final confirmed grades.

Students previously studying abroad

Students who have not studied GCSEs must obtain a qualification comparison certificate. This allows us to assess whether an offer is appropriate. It is the responsibility of the student to secure this certificate and there may be a cost involved.

Further guidance is available from the sixth form team.
